Protected Area management effectiveness

This research helped to develop a framework for assessing management effectiveness of Protected Areas that has been very widely applied around the world. The framework was developed in partnership with the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas and has been used by myself and others to design a number of more detailed methodologies that have been applied in more than 20,000 Protected Areas in more than 180 countries. One method developed has been adopted by the Global Environment Facility as a standard method of evaluation.  Professor Hockings received the IUCN Kenton Miller Award for Innovation in Protected Area Management for this work.
