Researcher biography

I am currently a Master of Conservation Biology student here at UQ. I have always had a passion for wildlife conservation, so I completed my Bachelor of Science at the University of Otago in New Zealand, with a major in Zoology and a minor in Marine Science. Since finding my passion for conservation and finishing up my undergrad, I have been an outdoor educator for a preschool in the US, volunteered in Madagascar on a sea turtle conservation program and am currently volunteering at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital while I undertake my Masters.

While I am not certain exactly where I want to end up, I have a variety of passions that I would love to pursue. I am mainly interested in pursuing marine conservation work, such as working on shark research. However, I love terrestrial areas just as much! I would love to research insects, end up in the US National Parks one day on either conservation projects or research, or even go back to outdoor education in the mountains. Environmental education is something I am extremely passionate about and somewhere I truly hope to end up once my field days are over!
