Researcher biography

After studying zoology, wildlife management and conservation biology in her undergraduate and coursework Masters, Eleanor's career took her to the USA where she worked for over a decade with great apes in a zoo setting. Now back in QLD, she works full-time in the UQ STEM engagement program, Wonder of Science. With a strong interest in science communication and changing human behaviour in the conservation realm, she has started a part-time MPhil exploring strategies to engage and communicate hard to see conservation challenges with private landholders. Her initial project will survey farmers in the Darling Downs region to determine their attitudes and willingness to help conserve cryptic reptiles including the Condamine earless dragon. Eleanor is keen to learn the new skillset of a social conservationist.
