Dr Kaline de Mello
Researcher biography
I am a postdoc researcher at the Department of Ecology, University of São Paulo, Brazil and here in the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Queensland. I am a biologist and a PhD in Biosystem Engineering. I worked at the Environmental Secretary of the State of São Paulo – Brazil for two years, and after that, I decided to do applied research for decision-making. I have been working for more than 10 years with Landscape Ecology applied to forest and watershed management, including setting priority areas for forest conservation and restoration, the relationship between forest and water quality and impacts of environmental policies on landscape connectivity and water quality. I am currently working with native vegetation compensation regarding the Brazilian Forest Act in collaboration with Professor Martine Maron.
