Researcher biography

I completed my Science degree majoring in Ecology at The University of Queensland in 2020. I have always had a strong passion for animals, plants and the environment, and in recent years I have become particularly interested in conservation. This interest has led me to join the Kark Biodiversity Group to complete my current Honours project. My project focuses on mapping and identifying gaps in the Global Coastal Protected Area network. This will involve analysing the total area of global coastal protection, the level of protection for different coastal ecosystems, identifying any bias in the location of coastal protected areas and understanding how well our current protected areas connect land and sea. From this, I am aiming to help understand the current conservation status of coastal areas and hoping to help provide information to improve coastal protection and conservation in the future.
