Researcher biography

Alesia is a Research Assistant at The University of Queensland, supervised by Dr Jeremy Simmonds. Her work falls under the NESP 7.3 Project examining how proactive, strategic planning can be harnessed to guide better impact assessments and decisions and promote sustainable development in northern Australia’s Indigenous lands (Threatened Species Recovery Hub). Alesia has recently graduated from UQ with a Bachelor of Environmental Management (Honours). She is also interested in the conservation of threatened species; her Honours thesis investigated national environmental legislation and its effectiveness in assessing impacts of development projects on threatened species. She is currently undergoing a submission process co-authoring a manuscript version of her thesis with Dr Jeremy Simmonds for publication in Pacific Conservation Biology
