Fedra Herman
Researcher biography
Fedra, originally from Belgium, is a current Master of Conservation Biology student at The University of Queensland, graduating in July 2023. She has a passion for nature conservation and is particularly interested in rewilding and habitat restoration.
Her professional experience and Master degree have equipped her with a practical skillset in ecological fieldwork, statistical analysis, spatial analysis and GIS. Since 2020, she has been working as a research assistant in diverse fields, including social science, marine policy and conservation science. She has worked as a voluntary field and research assistant across many conservation projects, including four weeks of intensive fieldwork at Heron Island Research Station in the Great Barrier Reef. Since 2021, she has been a writer and web/social media content creator for Conservation Careers, a web platform aimed at assisting aspiring conservationists to take their first steps in an ecological career. In addition, she writes for her own blog, "The Wandering Biologist". In May 2022, Fedra obtained her PADI Advanced Open Water scuba diver qualifications on Heron Island. At the moment, she is looking for work opportunities commencing at the beginning of June 2023.
