Researcher biography

Growing up in an Indian coastal city (Chennai), Sai has always been intrigued by the ocean. She deepened her knowledge about the current stressors on the ocean through her scuba diving certifications. As an environmental scientist, Sai has experience researching in the field of microplastics and using marine social science to assess local community knowledge. She has experience working with the local community, government and industry to tackle conservation challenges. Sai completed her industry placement with BIEPA (Bribie Island Environmental Management) analysing the social impacts pf recreational beach driving at Bribie Island. She is currently interning with Nyamba Buru Yawuru through the Aurora Education Foundation to analyse the anthropogenic pressures on four jointly managed parks in Broome.
