Researcher biography
Rani completed a Bachelor of Science at The University of Queensland in 2021, majoring in Zoology and Ecology. She is passionate about wildlife conservation with a particular interest in urban ecology.
In 2022–2023, Rani completed an honours project looking at the impact of light pollution on insectivorous bats in Brisbane. Her honours research investigated for the first time in Australia how the flight activity of two insectivorous bat species changed with increasing distance from artificial light sources. This work aimed to inform the placement of light sources around important habitat for insectivorous bats to minimise harm on light-sensitive species.
