Researcher biography

I’m currently completing an Honours project as part of my final year of a Bachelor of Environmental Management, in which, as part of a larger, longer study in collaboration with The University of Queensland and Hidden Vale, I’ll be investigating the effect of prescribed burning on the germinable soil seedbank and below-ground plant diversity. Under the supervision of Dr Annabel Smith and Dr Shane Campbell, this research will assess the risk of frequent burning on the soil seed bank to inform the development of wholistic prescribed burning regimes.

Throughout my degree, I have enjoyed ecology, conservation and plant science; with a particular interest and professional involvement with weed management. I’m grateful for the opportunity to complete an Honours project in fire ecology, as it has allowed a synthesis of all these interests, and allows me to further conservation and management of the Australian ecosystems that I strongly value.
