Researcher biography

My main interests are coastal ecosystems, conservation planning, ecosystem services, climate change and connectivity.

I have a Bachelor degree in Biology from the Università degli Studi di Padova and an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree in Tropical Biodiversity and Ecosystems (TROPIMUNDO) from the Université Libre de Brussels, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Université de La Reunion and Université de Guyane.

For my Master's thesis, I worked with Anthony Richardson, Daniel Dunn and other people on a global conservation planning for mangroves that maximise the protection of biodiversity and ecosystem services (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-023-41333-3);

During the last year, I shifted focus to the deep sea and I worked for an EU-funded project called iAtlantic on the development of a conservation plan for the Atlantic Ocean under the supervision of Telmo Morato (Azores Deep-Sea Research - ADSR) at the University of Azores.

For my PhD at The University of Queensland, I am going to model connectivity between tropical coastal ecosystems and apply the results to conservation planning.

When I am not in the lab, I try to spend as much time as possible in contact with nature. If any activity is outdoors, there is a high chance that I like it!!
