Researcher biography

Growing up in the bustling urban environment of New Delhi, India, Ishaan found solace in city forests, day trips to his farmlands/village in countryside, and trips to the Himalayas which served as an option to connect with nature. His deep appreciation for the environment led him to change his professional life and pursue a degree in environmental science after completing his Bachelor’s in economics, keeping a focus on ecosystem restoration and raising awareness of environmental issues. 

Currently studying for a Master of Environmental The University of Queensland, Ishaan’s passion lies in environmental toxicology and water management. Previously, he contributed to urban forest projects like birds and butterfly surveys and lake restoration initiatives with WWF-India, by utilising natural bio-filters - Artificial Floating Wetlands, which is a nature-based solution (NBS). Additionally, he has volunteered as a Research Assistant in Lismore, New South Wales, aiding in a PhD project that involved water sampling for nutrient analysis.
