Researcher biography

Joe Meadham is a postgraduate student currently pursuing the Masters of Conservation Biology at the University of Queensland. He holds an Honours Degree in Zoology with Conservation from Bangor University (UK), and a Graduate Certificate in Aboriginal Studies from The University of Notre Dame (Australia).

Originally from the UK, Joe backpacked his way through Southeast Asia before landing in Australia in 2016, specifically Western Australia. He has since broadened his conservation biology experience nationally holding NGO, consultancy and voluntary roles, across both professional and academic sectors. His interests lie in the concepts of island biogeography and socio-cultural factors that influence conservation, with aspirations to integrate these fields into his future works.

Outside of academia, Joe is a big hiker, enjoys languages, watching films and savouring a good cup of tea!
