Researcher biography

I am an MPhil candidate at The University of Queensland, where I combine my academic research experience with community leadership to drive impactful environmental projects.

As Co-Founder of Casuna, a non-profit organisation, I have led sustainable development initiatives for rural communities in Colombia. And with over eight years of experience in social science and philosophy teaching, farming, law, and community-focused work, I bring a multidisciplinary approach to my research, to address pressing global challenges.

Since farming is a major driver of deforestation, biodiversity loss, and ecosystem degradation, I am passionate about finding ways to balance human needs with environmental protection.

Thus, my current research focuses on modelling the sustainability outcomes of “Food Forestry”—considering environmental, economic, and food security dimensions—in comparison to conventional industrial farming practices.

If our hypotheses prove correct, we may discover a scalable, productive model for rural development that strikes a balance between environmental protection and food production, especially valuable in heavily degraded croplands.

I’m always happy to share ideas, projects, and good conversations on science, life, and philosophy.
