Researcher biography

I am an environmental scientist with an interest in the conservation of biological diversity and the understanding of ecosystem functioning under increasing anthropogenic threats. I aim at applying geographic information systems to develop spatially explicit solutions for the conservation and management of biodiversity while balancing human needs. I also aim at applying statistical tools to unravel the determinants of tropical biodiversity.

My current main research project deals with the understanding of water quality treatment methods for reducing nitrogen pollution in the Australian Great Barrier Reef, as well as the development of GIS analyses for proposing feasible areas to offset nitrogen pollution affecting marine ecosystems.

PhD in environmental management. The University of Queensland, Australia. 2019

MSc in Biological Sciences. Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. 2010
