Researcher biography

Justine is a PhD student at The University of Queensland, studying under Dr Annabel Smith and Dr Simon Hart. Her work focuses on freshwater ecosystems, with platypus as a model species. She also works with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service at Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre. In early 2021, she completed a Bachelor of Science with first class Honours. For her Honours project, Justine researched the population of black rats (Rattus rattus) at the Port of Brisbane, through extensive camera trapping and snaptrapping. She has considerable volunteering experience in biology data collection and animal care.
